Clonado de Clonado de Clonado de Along the Aqueduct Path
This circular route, starting from the village of Revenga, invites us to step back in time, following the trail of water to the source of one of the greatest engineering feats of antiquity: the Segovia Aqueduct.
Skirting the Puente Alta reservoir, from where we’ll enjoy stunning views of the Mujer Muerta, we’ll reach the River Acebeda. Passing through oak and Scots pine woods, we’ll reach the spot where, for centuries, the water supplying the city of Segovia was collected: the aqueduct’s weir. We’ll learn how the infrastructure worked and about the gruelling work of the weir keepers who guarded this vital watercourse.
Throughout the tour, we will also hear accounts from bargemen, charcoal burners, shepherds and villagers who worked and earned their livelihood in these parts. All this takes place in an area of immense environmental richness, part of the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park.
