San Andrés Gate (City Wall Information Centre)

Header image

Designated a Site of Cultural Interest

Also known as Puerta o Arco del Socorro. It is one of the three gates that remain in the city walls, which gives it great historical value, although its current appearance is the result of alterations carried out in the late 15th and early 16th centuries.

A quintessential Quevedo site, a plaque inside the arch reminds us of the adventures of the characters from El Buscón through the narrow, winding streets of the Jewish quarter.

You can access the walls to enjoy magnificent views of the old Jewish quarter by purchasing a ticket at the nearby La Muralla Tourist Information Point, in Plaza del Socorro.
