Guided tour of the Segovia Aqueduct

Embark on a fascinating tour that will give you an in-depth insight into the history, engineering and beauty of this Roman marvel, considered one of the most iconic and best-preserved ancient monuments in Spain.

The Aqueduct of Segovia was built in the 1st century AD during the reign of Emperor Trajan, and consists of approximately 24,000 granite blocks set without any mortar, assembled using a system of arches and vaults that still defy the passage of time today.

With a maximum height of 28 metres and a total length of almost 800 metres, this impressive aqueduct was designed to carry water from the Sierra de Fuenfría to the city, covering a distance of around 15 kilometres.

The adventure begins at Azoguejo, where the Aqueduct reaches its highest point, offering a breathtaking view that perfectly captures its scale.

From there, you’ll walk down the arcades, passing through the Plaza de Díaz Sanz and the neighbourhoods of Salvador and San Justo, enjoying unique views and details that only an expert guide can reveal, such as Roman construction techniques and interesting facts about its conservation.

You’ll also have the exclusive opportunity to visit the interior of the San Gabriel sand trap, a space that helps you understand key aspects of Roman engineering and the aqueduct’s functionality in its day, as well as its role in everyday life in Segovia.

The route culminates in the San Antonio el Real area, where the majesty of the Aqueduct continues to amaze and leave a lasting impression on all visitors.

An unmissable experience for groups wishing to connect with the history, engineering and grandeur of Segovia!

Don’t miss the chance to enjoy this unique and enriching tour.
