Religious buildings

Segovia is, mainly, a city for meditation, that is why it was chosen in old times as a place of settlement for numerous religious orders, as can be seen by the great variety of monasteries that are still with us.

This religious character of our city is clear to see in the magnificent collection of temples, mainly of Romanic style, that the city treasures.

It wasn’t only the Christians that left their mark on art; the Jews left us what was then their Main Synagogue, currently the church of Corpus Christi, which takes us back to a period in time when our city was home of one of the most important Jewish Quarters in the Kingdom of Castilla.
