Epistolario (2009). Jordi Doménech

This edition compiles Antonio Machado's known letters. There are 221 letters in total, many of which are being published for the first time. Among Antonio Machado's correspondents are Miguel de Unamuno, Rubén Darío, Juan Ramón Jiménez, José Ortega y Gasset, and, in the 1920s, Gerardo Diego and other writers of the Generation of '27. An appendix contains annotated versions of the 36 letters he wrote to his late love, Pilar de Valderrama, between 1929 and 1932. The collection is completed by an important group of 39 letters from the years of the Civil War, 1936-1939.

Sí, soy Guiomar (1981). Pilar de Valderrama

Published by Plaza & Janés and with a foreword by Jorge Guillén, this autobiographical book recounts the life and testimony of the until recently unknown “Guiomar”, Antonio Machado's late muse. Pilar de Valderrama, a poet from Madrid born in 1892, dedicates a special chapter to her years with Antonio Machado, aware that this exceptional event was not only a crucial moment in her life, but also in the poet's own.

The story of the birth of “Guiomar”, told by Pilar de Valderrama, completes the image of Machado and represents the final revelation of a great love about which there has been much speculation. In addition to the invaluable testimony of the author, there is that of Antonio Machado himself, through the publication, in facsimile and transcription, of the collection of letters he wrote to Pilar de Valderrama, which are a lyrical, biographical and personal document.
