Juan Bravo Theatre

Designated a Site of Cultural Interest

Construction of the theatre began in 1915. Its layout follows the style of Italian Baroque theatres, comprising three successive spaces: the rectangular foyer, the horseshoe-shaped auditorium and the stage.

The foyer features two circular side staircases. The auditorium, meanwhile, consists of the stalls and narrow wooden-floored boxes supported by cast-iron columns running along the perimeter of the wall. The rear of the building comprises three areas: the central performance area and two side spaces, with the dressing rooms on the north side and a storage room on the south side.

The ceiling of the central space and the stage opening are decorated with frescoes by the painter Lope Tablada Maeso. The flooring of the boxes is made of wood.
