Universidad de Valladolid’s campus is named after philosopher and essayist María Zambrano, who spent her young years in Segovia. A new construction, it has been built on the plot where the Casa Grande (big house) used to stand in the 18th century as a revitalizing focal point of Segovia’s textile industry. After this use, the prior building housed the Regiment of Artillery. The outside resembles a series of books from a gigantic library. The inner space opens as an agora, as a forum for research work, ideas swap and the interchange of thoughts, after the design of the architects Linazasoro and Sánchez.
