The puppet collection of master puppeteer Francisco Peralta is housed in the Puerta de Santiago—one of the surviving gates of the Segovia city wall. It contains pieces created by Francisco Peralta and his wife, Matilde del Amo, throughout their careers—works that the couple donated to the city of Segovia. Peralta is considered one of Spain’s finest puppeteers; in 1990, he was awarded the Silver Medal of Merit in the Fine Arts. The 38 characters featured in the museum represent works drawn from traditional folk ballads, classical literature, children’s stories, and musical themes by renowned authors.
